Saint Brendan's Community Village Project, Mulranny, Co. Mayo
Mulranny Day Centre Housing CLG, known locally as Saint Brendan's Community Village Project is primarily a combination of sheltered housing units with a high support facility called St Brendan's High Support Unit created in a village setting. It's a "not for profit" non- commercial community based company with charitable status, limited by guarantee under Irish Company Law Legislation. The St Brendan's Guarntee is that no matter how old or what disabilities one has, one has the opportunity to stay locally if that is your wish.
The facility is comprised of various components which overlap and complement each other to deliver the excellent services provided on a continuum of support and care provided according to the person's need so maximising personal autonomy and striving to attain the best independence possible at every stage of wellbeing. Facilities include, sheltered housing comprising of 16 low support units with a caretaker's house, and a 25 bed High Support Nursing Unit with communal facilities. This combination of accommodation units allow for the complete care package in respect to older people. St. Brendan's also operates a "meals on wheels" service that reaches out to the entire local community supporting people in their homes, with day care also available. St Brendan's Village also has its own community laundry. It also has established an horticulture garden facility on lands owned by St. Brendan's along the Great Western Greenway producing a bountiful harvest of fresh fruit(blueberries) and vegetables for our residents.
